North West Province Sees Boost in Service Delivery and Economic Empowerment

VRYBURG – In a significant move to enhance service delivery and economic empowerment, the North West Province’s DEDECT Thuntsha Lerole program recently made waves in Dithakwaneng Village, Naledi Local Municipality on Friday.

During this notable event, Premier Lazarus Mokgosi handed over four liquor licenses to successful applicants demonstrating the department’s commitment to efficiency in alignment with the 7th administration’s priorities.

Meanwhile, MEC Bitsa Lenkopane spread kindness and support through the North West Gambling Board’s social responsibility program by giving the Kopanong Service Club, a local center providing care for older persons, groceries and kitchen utensils to aid in their efforts to deliver nutritious meals, recreational activities, and economic empowerment programs to their clients.

In a gesture of appreciation, MEC Lenkopane also presented the “Sehuba Sa Kgosi” to the local chief, acknowledging the Traditional Authority’s vital role in the liquor license application process. The Traditional Authority’s tribal resolutions certificate is a crucial requirement for obtaining a liquor license.

The DEDECT Thuntsha Lerole program also included a business compliance inspection, led by Liquor and Consumer Inspectors in partnership with Municipal Health Practitioners from Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District and SAPS. This operation, which had began earlier in the week, enforced compliance among tuck shops and liquor outlets in Mmadipelesa, Shaleng, Vryburg, and Dithakwaneng.

Businesses that were found to be non- compluant faced significant penalties, including fines and the condemnation of expired food items found in their oremises.

These joint operations reinforce the importance of compliance with South Africa’s business regulations, ensuring the safety of both enterprises and consumers.

The North West Province’s efforts to boost service delivery and economic empowerment are certainly gaining momentum. With initiatives like the DEDECT Thuntsha Lerole program, the province is taking strides towards a brighter future for its residents.
