VRYBURG – An education-focused organisation, the South African Early Childhood Development Teachers Union (SAECDTU), is set to officially launch its North West provincial structure in Vryburg this Saturday.
The event will take place on 7 March 2026 at 9:00am at Naledi Local Municipality, located at 19A Market Street, in the Naledi Local Municipality area of the North West Province.
According to organisers, the launch will bring together a wide range of stakeholders in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector. These include ECD matrons and practitioners, Grade R practitioners, school governing body (SGB) educators, student educators and retired education professionals.
The provincial leadership in Bokone Bophirima will host the national leadership of the organisation, including Dr. B.J. Langa, the President of SAECDTU. The event will also feature the participation of Joyce Maoto, who serves as the Provincial Information and Communications (PIC) Chairperson.
The launch is expected to outline the organisation’s plans for strengthening representation and support for ECD practitioners across the province. Early Childhood Development has increasingly become a key focus area in South Africa’s education system, with growing calls for improved working conditions, training opportunities and recognition for practitioners in the sector.
Organisers say the gathering will also provide a platform for engagement between educators and the national leadership of the union on challenges facing the ECD sector.
The organisation operates under the motto “Injustice to One, Injustice to All,” signalling its commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of educators.
Attendance is expected from ECD practitioners and education stakeholders from across the North West province.
