VRYBURG – Bikers from the North West and Northern Cape Provinces recently embarked on a campaign in Vryburg, to raise awareness on safe use and sharing of roads.

The coordinator of the event, Madute Mamenemene told MORONGWA that bikers are the most vulnerable users on the roads.

” We call upon all motorists to  be considerate of other road users more especially bikers”, Mamenemene told MORONGWA.

The campaign started at the Moffat and Market Streets intersection, and moved along Market Street to a car-parts dealership belonging to an alleged perpetrator of road rage reported recently.

From there, they motorcade drove to Vryburg Police station.

Mamenemene said that they will pursue the latest road rage case where one of their own had to suffer, assault, and damage to his motor bike, from a motorist who accused him of making noise on the street.

” We want the law to take it’s cause. There is no special law for certain people. Everyone who commits a crime must face the full might of the law”, he further stated.

This awareness emanates from an incident where biker,  Itumeleng “Boogaluv” Baabua was pepper-sprayed on the face and his bike damaged.

The attack caused an outcry in the community as many said it was a racist attack.

At the time of this publication, no arrest had been made.
